Banded Ground-cuckoo (Neomorphus radiolosus), Un Poco del Choco, Ecuador
The Neomorphus Ground-cuckoos are some of the most sought after birds in the neotropics. This individual was tame, and allowed for close approach. I had a more typical encounter in a different area that afternoon, when a bird unexpectedly ran quickly across a trail, and allowed only a momentary glimpse.
