Bengal Florican Display
Bengal Florican (Houbaropsis bengalensis), Manas National Park, Assam, India
The Bengal Florican is a critically endangered bustard restricted to grasslands in South and Southeast Asia. Males perform spectacular aerial displays during the breeding season, in which they puff up their neck feathers and leap into the air. They jump infrequently, and I was very lucky that it jumped in the direction orthogonal to me.
