Emerald Tree Boa
Emerald Tree Boa (Corallus batesii), Pantiacolla Lodge, Madre de Dios, Peru
The Emerald Tree Boa has long been one of my top targets in Amazonia. I was amazed to find this one on a liana not too high above the trail, waiting in ambush for an arboreal rodent or opossum. It soon coiled up, and was in the same place when I returned the next afternoon. Beautiful!
